20/02/12Good Housekeeping v Real Women Hilarious! Which one are you? moreGood Housekeeping v. Real Women The Good Housekeeping Way #1 Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips. The Real Women's Way Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone, for God's sake. You are probably lying on the couch with your feet up eating it anyway. 16/02/12Sexpectable The other day my mother, 81, finally succumbed and went to the doctor to get some blood pressure pills; her first question was, “They’re not going to affect my libido are they?”
Her lover is 20 years her junior – which is probably what keeps her young. Sexual energy is a powerful and bonding force and often at the core of an older woman/ younger man relationship. However female sexuality has always been a contentious issue especially in a world that for millennia ha... more |
13/02/12Dreading VD? Valentine's Day isn't a day that should be dreaded. As a single person, it should be one that is embraced! moreIt is the month of love. Who better to solve your relationship woes than Katy Horwood and Suze Nowak? My girlfriend dumped me in November after being together for 3 years because she met somebody else, and I’m really dreading Valentine's day. We always used to do something special and I can’t bear imagining her with her new boyfriend when I am on my own. I... |
09/02/12Why I (sometimes) Date Younger Men Life is wonderful. You are constantly out, the champagne is flowing and your life is being carefully documented through facebook photo albums. It limits the number of times you can wear the same outfit but apart from that all is well. I was very clear that I dated men that were older and had the weight and gravitas to ensure that I could always afford my black cab fetish. moreThen you start to realise that there are fewer people to go out with. Couples complain it’s too cold or have... |
05/02/12TBW Goes International! We at TBW HQ have decided the time has come to open the site internationally, and so we now welcome registrations from outside Europe. moreAs this is a new thing, it will take a little time before the site is populated enough for new international users to actually "date", as it were. In the meantime, it's always great to make new friends. And Skype and Viber are excellent tools for keeping in touch across the miles. We made this decision because we've had a lot of interest f... |
03/02/12Peer Pressure No… not in the playground… but it feels a little like it. When I first joined TBW, I kept fairly quiet about it for a while. I’d never dated anyone younger than me before, let alone much younger. I hadn’t been looking for younger; I was led to the site by chance and then was happily surprised by it. Younger men are just so much nicer than any man of my own age I’ve found on an internet dating site. So, I gave them up… the other internet dating s... more |

This is how she describes the programme: I’ve collected some of my best, easy-to-use, coaching tips on preparing yourself body, mind and senses to be the best lover you’ve ever been. I want to make this accessible to as many people as possible so it costs just £10. What you’ll get |
28/01/125 Stages of a Break Up I believe that being in a relationship gives you important life experience. It helps you grow. A lot of the life lessons I’ve learned have been during a relationship. But what happens when the partner in crime decides to break up? I’ve seen this happen to friends a few times. A distinct pattern shows to repeat itself over and over again. moreThe five stages of a breakup: 1. Denial It’s just a minor bump in the road. They know that ... |
19/01/12It's a Man's World... I received a compliment yesterday. Slightly backhanded admittedly but a compliment never the less. It was from a man online. I have recently signed up to a dating site; it was with the upmost of reluctance that I did this but was lulled back with a new PayPal widget meaning I didn’t have to get off my sofa, find my bag, find my purse, find my card and pay £25 to a site I didn’t even want to be on. moreIt is January, all hopes of my most recent ‘love’ interest bein... |
15/01/12Making the Age Dynamic Work Can age difference relationships work?
Research adds a twist to why older woman seek out younger men. Theories state that from an evolutionary perspective, middle-aged women are "wired" to have more sex, especially with a younger, more virile man, because it is harder to get pregnant as she ages. So the more sex she has, especially with a younger man, the greater the chance of her getting pregnant becomes.
Bear in mind that although mutually enjoyable sex is a major benefit within this type of r... more |
12/01/12Planes: December Sessions This gig came about through one of the last ones, which was when I went to see Evaline at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town. moreAmong the audience members was Steve Forrest, who used to drum with Evaline - but, when there was a difference of opinion between he and the band's singer (I must confess, I can see why there would be a difference of opinion with the band's singer), he went his own way. Or, in his words, "they kicked me out". However, it was the best thing they did for him, as ... |

05/01/12Bang Bang, Romeo! No, not quite what you think!
Four of us from TBW went to The Fiddler's Elbow in Kentish Town on Thursday December 22nd to see Bang Bang Romeo, a 3 piece ensemble from Doncaster.
As they were the headliners, there were two acts on before them.
The great thing about The Fiddler's Elbow is that one payment lets you see all the bands, unlike The Bull and Gate and the Dublin Castle. Like the Bull and Gate though, the beer is cheap. As is the vodka.
Unlike the Bull and Gate, the staff can smile. They... more |
29/12/11"Toyboys" A very bright friend of mine had a very good idea a while ago. 22/12/11Comfort & Joy I had an unexpected call from an ex-boyfriend last night. I picked up unaware that it was him calling, having lost all my numbers from my phone recently and was surprised to hear from him presuming, after such an extended absence, that he had either died, married or moved to Tahiti.
We chatted for a while about work, life and our plans for Christmas. After a recent break up he plans to spend the ‘big’ day with his parents up in Birmingham (and you thought working in a soup kitchen in... more |
19/12/11Julia on Morning After Show TBW Founder, Julia Macmillan, is on the Morning After Show, talking about the furore between Caroline Flack and One Direction star, Harry Styles.
The pair first sparked speculation of a romance back in October, when they shared a kiss and were caught on camera flirting during the reality series spin-off show broadcast on ITV2.
Floppy-haired Harry was later quizzed about the tender moment, which can be seen in the video below, squirming awkwardly in his seat and failing to deny the accusation whi... more |
15/12/11Men Confess Men Confess: 22 reasons why younger guys fall for older women
We at TBW HQ came across this insightful article on iVillage recently. 22 reasons, straight from the horse's mouth, as to why many men prefer older women. Here's an excerpt:
In Older Women, Younger Men: New Options for Love and Romance, authors Felicia Brings and Susan Winter interviewed more than 200 men to discover the allure of the so-called "Mrs. Robinson syndrome." You'll be surprised at what men find appealing about older women.... more |
11/12/11Evaline @Clubfandango On Friday 2nd December, some friends and I went to see a band called Evaline play at The Bull & Gate in Kentish Town.
This is one of my favourite venues to see bands, as it's big enough not to be all squashed up, and small enough to feel intimate. The beer is also cheap, which is a big plus, even if the staff are miserable. A few beers later and one ceases to notice anyway.
Evaline are a six piece ensemble from Modesto, California, whose sound has been likened... more |
07/12/11Older women and younger men
Women who date and marry younger men is still a topic that gets people ringing and tweeting radio programmes in big numbers. I was on BBC 5 Live this morning at 7.40 talking about the fact that it is a growing trend and people should avoid stereotyping other people's relationships. Apparently so many people had opinions about this that they rang and asked me back at 9.15 (lucky I was still in bed!)
When I asked the producer what the general feel of the response was, she said hal... more |
05/12/11Living in a Box I was chatting to a friend yesterday. She is single and in rather a quandary about why. My conclusion was not that she was too fussy but that her type was too specific. She had a very small age window to negotiate around. She likes her men tall, dark and yes you’ve guessed it handsome. What hope has the poor girl got? Must they play the mandolin and be fluent in Lithuanian too? My advice was to broaden the spectrum. I’m not suggesting she dates a dwarf or gasp…. marries ... more |
01/12/11All the Single Ladies There was article in last weekend's Observer about an American woman called Kate Bolick who had written a piece in Atlantic Magazine about that she, approaching 40, might never marry. It caused a stir and a lot of interest (30,000 'likes' on Facebook.) She's even been approached to turn her story into a TV series. Her piece is a profound insight into the shifting sands of society both in the US and in the UK and makes a very interesting read, especially for people who have found that marriage ha... more |
27/11/11In Praise of Younger Men We've had a few articles recently about the benefits of an older woman, both in her allure and why it's beneficial to date one, so we thought we'd do something extolling the benefits of dating a younger guy. This is what we came up with. moreYouth: When we say "youth", we refer more to the youthful spirit of younger guys than their youth in years. Older men can be jaded, bitter, tired, settled. The women that are attracted to younger men are young souls inside, therefore the negative asp... |

20/11/1110 Great things about dating older women Age gap relationships have been around since time began, the more common being an older man and younger woman, and these are generally pretty well received, unless the difference is insanely vast, or it's obvious the older man only has the company of his younger woman because of his bank balance. moreThe reverse - older women and younger men - hasn't always been so well received. Indeed, although it's occurrence is on the rise, as well as general acceptance of it, people are still all to... |
17/11/11The Allure of Older Women What makes a younger man attracted to an older woman? And why does it look like this phenomenon isn't going to go away? moreAccording to science, men shouldn't really be attracted to older women. Evolution has primed men to fancy the most healthy, fertile women. For 'healthy and fertile', science would have you read 'young'. Evolutionary biologists are adamant: men want to date women the same age or younger than themselves. Which begs one simple question: why are so many men attrac... |
14/11/11The Food of Love Family meals, from a young age, unlike those outside the home, are opportunities for learning good manners, which is why many think that during meals one should avoid unpleasant conversations. moreBut harmony can easily be threatened when particular diets come into play. . Sometimes food can be used to argue, albeit on good part, about the different tastes of individual family members. 10/11/11The Brain: Sexiest Organ The Brain is the Sexiest Organ moreWhat we define as sexually arousing is so varied as to be difficult to put into words. However, the most arousing thing we humans have is our ability to think, to imagine and to feel. Sex is not about touching genitalia. It is about getting aroused (and what you do with that arousal, of course). The brain is where all sensation is integrated and perceived and where imagination, thinking and doing come together. Orgasms exist entirel... |
06/11/11Why I'm Attracted to Older Women I have a little secret. moreIt’s not a very interesting secret but it’s a secret never the less. Born out of the necessity of not wanting to deal with the ramifications of people knowing about it because of the society with live in. I find older women attractive - and enjoy dating them. 16/10/11What is a Relationship? What is a relationship?
It could be said that because we are often brought up to see sex outside of a long-term serious relationship as wrong, we are either forced to commit or enter relationships we don’t really want to be in or to feel guilty for engaging in a casual relationship.
When is a relationship a relationship?
To want to spend our lives with one person (soul mate) is absolutely fine, if that is what we believe, to feel pressured into this ludicrous mentality, will leave us with ... more |

05/10/11Is It Really About Age? 07/09/11Getting published We're always delighted to hear of the achievement of a TBW member and these days getting published is a real acheivement as the book publishing industry is in something of a crisis. 27/08/11JK Genius If you've ever had to do public speaking it's unlikely that you've taken it in your stride. 22/08/11I Luv My Teacher Not so long ago, if a female teacher had been found having a relationship with a pupil in her school she would have been fired immediately. 04/08/11IQ, MeQ, I like You We’ve had a few discussions on our forum lately suggesting that we aren’t (here at TBW HQ) high-lighting men’s points of view enough. We’ve always tried to get away from the stereotype of the older woman seeking a younger man and the younger man seeking an older woman, which tends towards a picture of a purely physical liason and only emphasizes the younger man’s physical attributes. The truth is much more complex, and interesting. The fact is that a lot of me... more |
30/07/11Fin de Siècle
At some point every story sounds the same…
Well not quite the same. There are always variant themes, dependent upon one’s latest adventure, but in the end it’s like one series too many of a former favourite TV show. In other words, you’re better off with the odd one-off special now and again to stop familiarity breeding inevitable contempt.
